Independence can mean a myriad of things to different people. But to me, it means to have the freedom and the choice to practice Islam fully wherever I am. It means to not have any restrictions, prejudices or biases placed on me due to practicing any tenet of my deen; my way of life. No matter where I am in the world, the word independence means to be able to adhere to and practice my faith the way Allah (SWT) and His Prophet (PBUH) have ordained me to!
